Kevin Galland (Coilguns) is a multi-instrumentalist whose main occupation is sound engineering. He co-owns Studio Mécanique in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland) and has his name in the credits of many records that come out on Humus Records (elie zoé, Coilguns, Mouche Miel, Beurre…), as well as other platforms both in Switzerland and abroad. His approach to learning and playing instruments is always based on the needs of the song he’s working on, and in the case of his solo project the initial impulse comes from lyrics. If lyrics convey something meaningful for him then the music comes naturally, and what instruments he will have to play, how he will record them and mix them all come from the essence of the lyrics. This was true for his debut EP “From the Mountains to the Sea” (Humus Records, 2023), in which he went from the softest piano to the harshest noisy post-hardcore in only five songs, and it is definitely true again for his debut album “In the Silence Between Worlds” (Humus Records, 2025). This time around Kevin explores a blend of acoustic and electronic sounds, around heavy and intimate themes. “The idea of playing these songs live in a traditional circuit makes no sense to me because of how intimate they are, and because of the lack of professional ambition behind my solo project. But I do want to play them for my friends and their friends! So inspired by singer- songwriters like David Bazan (Pedro the Lion) I decided to try and play them in living rooms for small audiences, with no stage or lights, and take it from there. Even more so in an age where it seems that everything is digital, virtual or built for the largest audiences it became extremely important for me to also try things in their simplest form. So if you have a piano at home and want to hear them, Pascal Schärli (Soubateurs, Sera Landhaus), Kevin Udry (Bunkr) and myself will be happy to stop by!”
