Two years after his first EP “From the Mountains to the Sea”, Kevin Galland (Coilguns, Closet Disco Queen) is back with a full length this time, called “In the Silence Between Worlds”. On this album, he finds a more cohesive stylistic approach that still manages to explore numerous facets of his personality. Soft pianos cohabit with fingerpicked acoustic guitars while heavy synthesisers and distorted electronic beats contrast with the raw intimacy of Kevin’s very personal and introspective first album.
The title refers to the floating moments in life when a chapter has ended but the new one hasn’t quite begun yet. If these chapters are worlds, full of stimuli, lights and noise, then what’s in between them is dark and silent. But in this silence one can hear hints of what will shape the next era of one’s life, and this is what Kevin tried to depict. Through eleven songs, he explores themes such as depression, loss, love, hope and art.
Once again Kevin played nearly everything himself with a few friends as guests (Louis Jucker, Aurèle Louis and Ingrid Elina Røyrvik). He produced, engineered and mixed everything in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Norway and the Faroe Islands.
