Threshold, Léa Martinez’s first EP to be released is a compilation of her earliest compositions. These pieces have accompanied her like lullabies, ones she got used to telling herself while sitting on the edge of her bed.

*”For me, music is a true shelter, a way to gather the little pieces of oneself that sometimes get lost. A way to regroup and unite against difficult moments and fears, to find strength in sadness, to let it flow and wrap around us. Because it’s important not to run from it, but to learn how to process it.

These pieces were written between the ages of 18 and 25. It’s a sensitive period for many, a sort of threshold. This time was particularly tough for me—having to face my deepest fears, I was at the same time thrown into a whirlwind of responsibilities and doubts, feeling as if the ground was slipping away beneath my feet with every step. This sensation is what pushed me to seek comfort in music, to allow myself to release all the emotions I had accumulated.

The realization that everything most familiar, even the most solid things around me, are made of paper—that everything hangs by a thread—is nothing new. All my life, I have felt the fragility of the present, of what we believe we possess, and of who we are. This is also what comes through in my music—something precarious, fragile, simple. It allows for a certain resilience, a way to move forward and evolve without forgetting what matters most.
