HEX – II – LP

This new album from HEX continues the path we set out on over a decade ago: making music as a space for experimentation, constructive tension, and emotional vertigo. A way of navigating years, parallel lives, departures and arrivals, without ever giving in to complacency.

We simply kept working, patiently, shaping the sound we wanted to hear: abrasive, cyclical, obsessive with no career plan beyond the ambition to create the most beautiful music we could. Over time, we learned to embrace our singularity, our stubbornness, our sense of misfit. II is just that : fragments of our individual selves, brought together through lucky accidents, collective dissonance, and mutual support.

As usual, the writing process began in chaos, stray ideas thrown around, interrupted sessions, aesthetic questions and shared convictions that pushed us out of our comfort zones. The arrival of new members Léa Martinez and Wladislas Marian injected a contagious energy and reignited a machine that had become unruly. Léa’s voice opened up a new space, more vulnerable, more spectral. Wladislas, with his rhythmic precision and controlled intensity, reshaped the way we think about the foundations of our songs.

This record was written slowly and carefully, in stolen hours amid our scattered schedules. Some tracks evolved multiple times before reaching their final form, while others remained almost identical to their initial breath. Vincent Hänggi produced the album with the attentive ears of the band and a near-obsessive focus on detail. It’s entirely self-made, in a DIY spirit that is dear to the project.

The album unfolds like a drift, more a sequence of states than a collection of songs : at times slow, at times violent, sometimes beautiful, but always in a state of resistance. You can hear deep-rooted influences: Ligeti, Swans, Glenn Branca, 4AD, No Wave, EBM, all infused with a taste for romantic dissonance and fragmented storytelling.

More than an album, II is an attempt to map our flaws and turn them into strengths, to make our misalignment with the world into a language of its own, giving voice to a quiet revolt that had long remained latent.
